BitPay alternative

A BitPay alternative that settles stablecoins straight to your wallet

BitPay is an established crypto payment processor: customers pay a BitPay address, and BitPay settles to your bank or a crypto wallet once a business day. Payclave is narrower and non-custodial. It accepts stablecoin payments and settles USDC or USDT on Polygon to your settlement wallet as each payment completes.

Different settlement path

BitPay receives the payment and settles the next business day. Payclave sends each payment's settlement directly to your wallet.

Different fees

BitPay lists 2% + $0.25 per transaction below $500k monthly volume. Payclave charges a flat 0.7% per completed live payment.

Different scope

BitPay covers Bitcoin, many tokens, fiat settlement, and store plugins. Payclave focuses on stablecoin checkout settling on Polygon.

Switching to Payclave

Add Payclave checkout alongside or instead of BitPay.

  1. 1

    Create test keys

Sign up, open the dashboard in test mode, and create a secret key for your server. Test mode does not move real funds.

  2. 2

    Set a settlement wallet

Choose USDC or USDT on Polygon and add a wallet you control. Live payments settle there directly.

  3. 3

    Create checkout sessions

From your backend, create a checkout session with the trusted amount and your order reference, then send customers to the hosted checkout URL.

  4. 4

    Verify signed webhooks

Verify X-Payclave-Signature on each webhook and fulfill orders on invoice.paid, after Payclave has verified the payment onchain.

Where BitPay is the stronger fit

BitPay makes sense when you want customers to pay in Bitcoin, need fiat deposited to a bank in several currencies, or run a store platform with an existing BitPay plugin. BitPay also holds a New York BitLicense.

Where Payclave fits

Payclave fits merchants that want stablecoin payments to land in their own wallet with each payment rather than in a daily settlement batch, and that prefer a single flat fee. Because Payclave never holds funds, there is no settlement minimum to reach and no account balance to manage, but Payclave also does not convert to fiat.

Frequently asked questions

BitPay alternative: common questions.

Is BitPay custodial?

Customers pay a BitPay address, and BitPay settles to the merchant the next business day in fiat or crypto. Payclave works differently: it never holds the payment, and settlement goes to your wallet with each payment.

How do BitPay and Payclave fees compare?

BitPay's pricing page lists 2% + $0.25 per transaction under $500k monthly volume, 1.5% + $0.25 up to $1M, and 1% + $0.25 above that. Payclave charges a flat 0.7% per completed live payment with no monthly fee. Network costs are separate for both.

Does Payclave accept Bitcoin?

No. Payclave focuses on stablecoin checkout and settles USDC or USDT on Polygon. If you need Bitcoin acceptance, a processor like BitPay is a better fit.

Can I run Payclave and BitPay together?

Yes. Many merchants offer more than one payment option. Payclave checkout sessions are created from your backend, so you can add a stablecoin option without removing an existing processor.
